Handing a site to a client
If you set a website up on someone else's behalf, you can move it to them — the site, its visitors, its revenue and everything else collected so far. Nothing restarts from zero and the tracking script never changes.
Sending the handover
- Open
Dashboard → Settingsand pick the site you want to hand over. - In Hand over to a client, enter the email address the new owner will sign in with, then confirm.
- You get a claim link back. Send it to them yourself — it is shown once and cannot be read back afterwards.
Only one handover can be open per site at a time. To send it to a different address, withdraw the pending one first — two live links would mean two people have been told they are getting the site.
You lose access the moment they accept
The website and all of its history move to their account and disappear from yours. There is no undo on your side: getting it back requires them to hand it back the same way. What the link can and can't do
| Description | ||
|---|---|---|
| who can accept | one address | Holding the link is not enough — the recipient must be signed in as the exact address you entered. Forwarding it to anyone else achieves nothing. |
| expires | 7 days | After that it stops working. Issuing a new one takes a click. |
| withdraw | until accepted | Use Withdraw on the pending row. Once accepted, it cannot be withdrawn. |
| status | live | The settings card shows whether the link has been opened yet, when it expires, and when it was accepted. |
What the client sees
The link opens a page naming the website and what comes with it. If they don't have an account yet they create one from that page; if they do, they sign in — either way with the address the handover was sent to. Accepting takes one click and moves ownership immediately.
What carries over
- Every visitor, pageview, goal, funnel and payment recorded so far.
- The tracking script — the same
data-website-id, so nothing needs reinstalling and reporting continues without a gap. - Payment connections and webhooks set up for that site, now reporting into their account.
They choose their own plan
You don't pick a plan for the client and they are not billed for anything until they choose one. Tracking keeps running from the moment they accept; their reports open once they're on a plan. Nothing collected in the meantime is ever deleted — whenever they subscribe, the full history is there. If accepting fails
- Wrong account — they're signed in as a different address. Sign out and use the one the handover was sent to.
- Already added this website — the same domain exists in their own account. They need to remove it first, otherwise the history would be split across two entries.
- Expired or no longer valid — the seven days ran out, or the link was withdrawn. Send a fresh one from settings.
